A Rare and Wonderful Update

Relax, it's no big news post.

I just felt like sharing a little since spring is just around the corner now.  We are still hoping to put in a fence in our side yard, so stay tuned for that.  We have tons of other potential projects up our sleeves too.  For example...

Ripping our the front bushes (persuant to fence plan approval from the city)
Repainting kitchen cabinets white
Repainting or refinishing kitchen window frames
Painting the side door to the garage a fun color
Painting the living room peacock blue
Finally finishing taking care of the stairwell walls...

And so on and so forth.

But until spring actually springs, we are going to be working on Goodwill's Ultimate Upcycling Contest.  We found some pretty neat items today.  Super Husband really has an eye for how to bring an idea together!  No spoilers yet, but let me just say that it's kid's room-related, but no we don't have any kids nor do we have any plans for any at this time.  We have until April 8 to submit our finished project, in photo form.  The winner gets a $50 Goodwill gift card, two runners-up get $25 gift cards.

We're also on a mission to dominate Team Trivia of WI's championship on April 13.  We're blitzkreiging all the trivia nights we can, which is probably annoying the crap out of our friends, but mostly they are being good sports. Winner takes $2,000 in that one.  I'll let you know how we do!

Semi-Hiatus

I have stumbled into a pattern of starting posts for the blog, only to lose enthusiasm halfway, or to realize/decide that either no one will care about what I'm writing about, or that I don't actually feel like sharing it all that much.  Sorry, if you were hoping to catch up on the following topics, they will not be forthcoming:

  • What I got for Christmas
  • Ladies' shopping excursion and subsequent makeup reviews
  • My trip to Milwaukee Public Museum and a rant about our society's disconnect from nature
  • Movie reviews for "Parental Guidance" and a few other films
  • A rant about Twitter and how much I don't like it
  • My business trip to Las Vegas
  • Home decorating & improvement updates
For now I am just too busy between work (post-merger there is a HEAP of stuff on my plate now, whereas post-wedding and pre-merger I had a ton of spare time, even at work), church, friends (hooray real-life socialization!), family, household chores, and me-time (which includes weekly ballet class) to come up with witty and read-worthy posts for the public's delectation.

Maybe this summer things will loosen up.  Until then, thanks for reading, if you were, and hang in there!  "You haven't seen the last of [me]!"

Not Laid Off

I've been remiss in my updates, and I guess plenty of things have happened since the last time I posted.  Sorry about all that. We had a nice enough holiday season.  New Year's Eve was awesome!

Throughout the holidays I was worrying about whether or not I'd have a job on what I've come to call "The Day of Reckoning" - January 7.  This was the official Day One start of the new JDA-owned RedPrairie, and everyone was supposed to find out whether they still had a job or not on this day.

I am happy to report that I am among those who are part of the new company.  I'll be working in Customer References once more, which is nice because I loved my manager that I used to work in References with.  She was the one who hired me as an intern, and I worked for her for 3 1/2 years before moving into a different role.  While I won't be directly reporting to her anymore, it will be nice to be on the same team again!

I'm looking forward to getting a chance to give Customer References another go - this time hopefully we can do everything we wish we could have done before, and more.  And I get to go to Vegas in February.
